Many of us find it hard to establish or maintain a meditation practice. We do a course, or go to a retreat and come home with good intentions. But days and weeks pass and we’ve not made the time to sit and practice each day.
To help you get into the habit of regular meditation, I host a small group sit a couple of times each week. You’re very welcome to come along and sit with us.
The meditation is usually a guided mindfulness practice followed by either a guided intentional practice (such as loving-kindness or gratitude) or a silent sit.
There is no charge to attend the group sits.
Sitting days and times
Check here each week or so for changes to this schedule, or follow us on Facebook.
- Sundays: 8.30 to 9.15am
Next dates: July 8, 15, 29 (July 22 we’ll be going to the Atisha Centre in Bendigo)
- Mondays: 6.00 to 6.30pm (note the earlier time)
Next dates: July 10, 17, 24, 30
How to participate
Call me on 5852 3853 or 0419 556470 or respond via Facebook so I know how many are coming. If it’s your first time, you’ll need to call to get the address.
For the Atisha Centre trips, I may have space in the car for one or two people, but call to check first. We leave here at 8.15am and return after midday. The meditation at the centre is from 10am to 11am.
Beginners are welcome (however, my meditation course will provide a more structured approach to learning to meditate).
What to bring
I have a few meditation mats (zabutons) and cushions (zafus) if you like to sit on the floor, and chairs are available. You’re also welcome to bring your own meditation cushion or seat.
In the cooler months, you might want to bring a shawl or blanket to keep warm. And wear or bring socks because you’ll remove your shoes before you come into the meditation room.
