Meditation group

Many of us find it hard to establish or maintain a meditation practice. We do a course or go to a retreat, and come home with good intentions. But days and weeks pass and we’ve not been able to make the time to sit and practice each day.

To help you get into the habit of meditating daily, we sit for meditation as a (small) group several times each week. You’re very welcome to come along and sit with us.

We sit for 30 minutes. Given that most of us have to go to work, get kids to school or manage other commitments, we just sit for meditation, then go about our daily schedule. Occasionally, we’ll have a special evening or afternoon sit followed by chai and cake.

Beginners are welcome (however, our meditation course will provide a more structured approach to learning to meditate).

What to bring

We have meditation mats (zabutons) and cushions (zafus) if you like to sit on the floor, and chairs are available. You’re also welcome to bring your own meditation cushion or seat.

In the cooler months, you might want to bring a shawl or blanket to keep warm. And wear socks because you’ll remove your shoes before you come into the meditation room.
